This class is ideal for beginners who are interested in learning the basics of weaving. You will learn a variety of different weaving techniques that will give you the knowledge to be able to create your very own woven wall hanging!
Weaving is such a wonderful and therapeutic form of making. It's relatively easy to get the hang of and there are so many different ways you can play with texture and colour to create different results.
What you will learn:
Setting up the warp strings on your loom & most importantly how to get the tension right
Become familiar with weaving terms and tools.
Making tassles to create a fringe finish
Various weaving techniques:
Tabby Weave
Twill Weave
Rya Knots
Soumak (braiding effect)
1x1, 2x2, 3x3 various weave formations
You will be encouraged to experiment with colours and textures using a selection of yarns and roving
Finishing your weave
Taking it off the loom
Attaching a wooden dowel for display
Tidying up the loose ends on the back
